The Mets are fresh off a retaliatory sweep of the Florida Marlins; the last game which the Mets rallied to come back from a 5 run deficit. Since the departure/demotion/made up injuries of Ollie Perez, GMJ, John Maine and Luis Castillo, this Mets team has a different look and feel...and I like it! They are younger and simply a better team. Plus, there is good news on the Carlos Beltran front. We may see him after the all-star break, but I am not going to get my hopes up.
Furthermore, as a Mets fan, I felt something creep up within me that hasn't in years: Even when the Mets were down multiple runs in the late innings, I had a very confident feeling they were going to win the game. Of course K-Rod walks the usual tight rope in the 9th and I almost jinxed it.
On the other hand, Philly is floundering. The Phillies are 4-8 going back to and including the embarrassing sweep by the Mets. They are not scoring, and had they not scored in the 9th last night, would have been shut out for the 5th time over that span.
Anyway, these next couple weeks are going to be very important for both team. While the Phillies are looking for an answer to their offensive woes, heres a video that at the very least may be an answer for Philly's offensive fans:
Haha, start em young Philly. Maybe one day he too can aspire to be this:
