The Phillies picked up an
extra inning win in Chicago last night despite being out-hit by 3-times as much. The Phillies won 4-3 with only 3 hits compared to the Cubs 10. Ben Francisco hit a home run in the top of the twelfth to push the Phillies to over the top and break the tie. Jimmy Rollins also homered in the game. The win keeps the Phillies 3 games over the Marlins.
On the mound, Scott Eyre picked up the win as the pitcher of record after the eleventh. J.A. Happ allowed only two hits during six innings. Rich Harden went 7 and only allowed 2 runs and 2 hits, Rollins home run being the only runs. A sad note on the mound, Brad Lidge blew another save, his seventh on the season. Not so good, but the team got the win in the end so all is well.
And by the way, my younger brother and I are traveling to Boston tomorrow to catch a game at Fenway. Neither of us has been and it’s about time. Also, we’re heading to Cooperstown on Thursday. I should be posting at night but if I miss a day, that’s why. I’ll definitely have some good notes and tid-bits for you in the process.
