We're the Team to Beat Latest Posts

Let's go straight to the article on ESPN, it's better to read this from the source:
Tony Bernazard, the team's vice president for player development, pulled off his shirt and challenged the Double-A Binghamton Mets in the tirade, about 10 days before the All-Star break. He in particular targeted middle infield prospect Jose Coronado, according to the report.
Well what does Omar think of this?!?
Mets GM Omar Minaya said Bernazard spoke to the minor-league team in a "stern voice," but said he had no knowledge of the particulars.
Probably just protecting the front office, but would you be at all surprised if he actually had no idea what was going on in his organization?
Tuesday, the Daily News reported that at a recent game at Citi Field, Bernazard, who wanted a seat behind home plate that was occupied by an Arizona Diamondbacks scout, unleashed a profanity-laced tirade against a subordinate who suggested the wait until the half-inning was over to take the seat.
So I'm just going to assume that someone is breathing down this guys neck in the front office and he's inches away from getting fired.  Why else would he be going off the deep end like this?  But who is this guy anyway?
Bernazard, 52, who has been fingered in the media as a key influence behind the firings of manager Willie Randolph and pitching coach Rick Peterson last season.
And there's the kicker.  Who the hell is  this guy and why does somebody this much of a loose cannon have so much power? From MetsBlog:
…frankly, if i had a dime for every person who has told me the Mets currently have Three GMs, i could retire… i have heard from agents and other baseball people around the league that, basically, at this point, Jeff Wilpon and Bernazard have a closer relationship than Bernazard and minaya… yet, minaya is supposed to be in charge of all baseball operations… so much for full autonomy, i guess… how did the Mets get to this point again… i mean, it seems like we keep having this same conversation every five to 10 years…
The Mets are in complete disarray, apparently from the top of the organization to the bottom.  It's times like that that I couldn't be happier to be a Phillies fan.
